Groundhog Day is a musical with music and lyrics by Tim (reprising his role from the original 2016 London cast) as Ned Maryland from 31 July to 31 August 2025. The Old Vic has revealed the full creative team and cast for the award-winning musical, Groundhog Day, which returns to London following its world premiere in 2016. Based on the 1993 film of the same name, Groundhog Day sees weatherman Phil Connors caught in a time loop while covering a Punxsutawney tradition. The show’s songs are written by Tim Minchin and directed by The Old Vic’s artistic director Matthew Warchus – reuniting the duo following their smash-hit production of Matilda The Musical – which continues to pack in audiences at the Cambridge Theatre in London.
