The Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department's annual Frozen Fest is a 5-day festival of winter activities across the community, and Groundhog Day is the Grand Finale! Businesses and organizations throughout the City of Sun Prairie will be offering many Groundhog Day specials on February 2nd. The 4th Annual Frozen Fest promises an exciting lineup of winter festivities from January 29 to February 2, 2025, culminating in the 77th Annual Groundhog Prognostication in Sun Prairie. When is the Sun Prairie Groundhog Day Prognostication this year? This year's 77th annual Groundhog Day Prognostication in Sun Prairie will be held at sunrise (7:11 a.m.) on Sunday, Feb. 2, in the SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WKOW) -- The city of Sun Prairie is celebrating its 76th annual Groundhog Day Prognostication ceremony on Friday. Jimmy the Groundhog is expected to give his prediction at sunrise, or 7:11 a.m. in Cannery Square. If he sees his shadow, Wisconsin will have six more weeks of winter. If Jimmy doesn't, spring will come early. Businesses across Sun Prairie offered a variety of specials for Groundhog Day, including a free 12-inch thin-crust cheese pizza at Rosati's with the purchase of an 18-inch pizza, and Groundhog Day Celebrate Groundhog Day with a twist at the Groundhog Open Putt Putt Bar Crawl! Round up a team of four and tour Sun Prairie's best bars with a fun putt-putt challenge at each stop. In partnership with Wisconsin Distributors, this one-of-a-kind event supports the Sun Prairie Lion's Club. Pancake Breakfast with Jimmy the Groundhog-The Sun Prairie Exchange Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. Georgia and Jimmy the Groundhog from Sun Prairie, Over the years, several other locations have begun using their own groundhog, including General Beauregard Lee of Atlanta, Dunkirk Dave of Dunkirk, New York, and Jimmy of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The ceremony began at 6:50a.m. and the Prognostication took place at sunrise (7:11 am.). Many came from near and far to Cannery Square in Downtown Sun Prairie and welcomed ‘Jimmy the Groundhog’ to Sun Prairie for his Groundhog Day prediction!
