It feels like you are going through the motions just like in that film Groundhog Day. In the movie, Bill Murry and Andy Mcdowell play two people in love who get stuck living one day over and over until they get something right. We can feel like we’re spinning our wheels. We can feel like we’re just going through the motions. We can feel like we are powerless to change our circumstances. We can feel hopeless. I was there recently. The last bit of 2022 was hard for me. I felt like I was stuck in that loop. There were days I didn’t get out of bed. Days that were a Of course, there’s more to it than that but the saying ‘my life feels like groundhog day;’ comes from that film. And if you’ve ever used that phrase yourself, you’ll know exactly what I am talking about. Of course one can get new hobbies and interests but still it feels like everything is just repeating for example when young I watched football on TV. Now I watch it its like oh same as it was 10 years ago, commentators saying same things, managers saying same things, nothing ever changes. To provide a smidge more detail, the movie Groundhog Day is about a man reliving the same day over and over and over. Every time he wakes up it's Groundhog Day again, and people always say the same things and do the same things over and over, and he's the only one who is aware of the infinite repetition and who is capable of doing things differently. Depression makes everyday feel like groundhog day It feels like everyday is the same, the same battle with myself. Everything might be changing around me but for me I cannot tell the difference between yesterday, last week or even last month. That movie is like my life. I feel like every day is the same. Like I am a robot on a schedule and not feeling anything. I see no point in life because nothing makes me happy. Not that I would ever kill myself but I just feel empty. I nearly had a panic attack when I thought about it and it became clear why I am an emotional eater. I love Palm Springs even past the (early) point when you figure out how it’s built upon the Groundhog Day premise it doesn’t feel like a copycat, just it’s own version, with some significant tonal differences that just make you appreciate both movies more.
