The film was already released on 4K UHD Blu-Ray five years ago, but I have not had the pleasure of checking out that release. From my understanding, that release is one of the more beloved ones on the In keeping with Sony’s string of SteelBook 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases, Groundhog Day is the latest to score the slightly improved Dolby Vision treatment. As I said in my 2018 4K review, the film looks great but given the drab wintery vibe it’s not exactly a title that’s going to blow your hair back but it’s certainly better than past Blu-ray and DVD releases. Groundhog Day makes its second appearance on 4K UHD Blu-ray, ditching the annoying menu design used on their earlier 4K discs and adding Dolby Vision high dynamic range (the disc still included HDR10). This appears to be the same master used for the 25 th Anniversary release, with Dolby Vision giving the highlights a slight boost.
